" 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved."
Ephesians 1:3-6

Yay!

Okay, I am back and so sorry for the long wait for a new post!!

Andy and I have moved along quite fast from the last time I wrote you and we are very excited and close to being all done with the home study!!

So, Monday will be when I turn in the rest of our paper work, where it will then be looked at and double checked to make sure we have everything over a period of 3 to 6 weeks. Meanwhile, what we have been doing is getting our 15 hours of training in, which consist of going to trainings at Bethany Christian, watching adoption videos or reading specific books written for adotion. I believe we have close to 12 hours now.
The next step in our plan is to put together our family portfolio, which is basically like a scrapbook of our lives with a written note to a birthmother. After our portfolio is complete, we will hand it into Bethany Christian, and this book is what the birthmothers will look through and pick out their adoptive family for their baby's future home.
Like I said we are getting so close and we are very excited to be moving forward so quickly!!

(Hospitious Adoption by: Jaes L. Gritter and in their own voices by Rita J. Simon and Rhonda M. Roorda)

These two books out of the six we read are so powerful and full of incredibly useful information even in our parenting of Landyn right now.  I have truly enjoyed reading the materials for our training and I hope to continue to find more helpful books to continue this habit. Actually, I was hoping that some of you may know some good reads. I am always up for any suggestions that will better the parent in me, so please feel free to tell me what books you think would be beneficial.

Thank you so much for reading this! We just ask for continued prayer for our family and our future family and maybe little extra prayer for my anxious attitude that has been rearing its ugly head lately.

God Bless,
          Listyn

  1. In Their Own Voices looks very interesting! I've always wanted black children, but reading more about it and having information about what that would entail would be awesome. I'll have to check it out. The parenting book I've been reading lately (stilllllll reading it) is called Grace Based Parenting. Maybe it strikes my heart more having been raised AC? I don't know. I love it. So excited that you guys are moving along in your process!

  2. thanks for the book idea!! It sounds like one I am definitely going to be reading, I also just read a cute little book called "who moved my cheese" and that book is about accepting changes if your life, based off a super cute analogy of two mice and two men, I also felt like eating cheese at the end of that story.
    Thank you so again!!!!
